IF GOLF WAS A 14-HOLE GAME, WOULD YOU BE A BETTER GOLFER?

Avoid dehydrationon the course - the biggest water hazaed in golf.

If the answer to that question is YES there is a simple answer for you other than fixing your swing flaws…The solution is water and HyLytes!

Have you ever…Faded on the back nine? Had a melt down in the heat or experienced muscle cramps while playing golf?  If the answer is yes, then you need HyLytes.  HyLytes with water will ensure proper hydration and will prevent fatigue and careless mistakes on the back nine.  Without the added electrolytes HyLytes provide, your body cannot properly process the water you drink and that will only lead to fatigue and poor play.  Make no mistake – sports drinks are not the answer. They have way too much sugar and will only lead to a sugar crash.

Whether you are a low handicapper playing in a tournament or a high handicapper playing with friends, four hours on the course is a long time.  Without water, combined with HyLytes, fatigue as a result dehydration will lead to a “blow-up” on the back nine. When you prepare for your round make sure you consider a hydration plan that includes a sufficient amount of water (16 to 24 ounces per hour is recommended) and electrolytes in order to prevent fatigue so that you can finish strong.

The Simplified Process of Dehydration

As dehydration occurs your blood gets thicker...

As your blood thickens it becomes more difficult for your heart to pump blood throughout your body...

As your heart is working harder your heart rate increases...

As your heart rate increases due to pumping thicker blood, fatigue comes on faster, just in time to ruin your back nine.

What are electrolytes?

While everyone has heard of “Electrolytes”, not everyone knows their importance to normal bodily functions.  Electrolytes facilitate fluid absorption and help get the water you drink through your stomach and into your body (muscles, nerves, heart and brain) affecting both physical and mental performance.  Use HyLytes to ensure proper hydration, better health and a better golf game.  If you have ever felt bloated from drinking a lot of water, it was likely due to a lack of electrolytes.

Often the first thing that comes to mind when anyone hears "electrolytes" is a sports drink. While most sports drinks have sodium and potassium they do not contain several other essential electrolytes, and they do contain a great deal of sugar. Think of the way sports drinks make you feel. More than likely you experience a quick burst of energy (a "sugar spike" or "sugar high"), followed by a "crash," characterized by fatigue, lethargy, mood swings and a big score. The average sports drink contains 14 grams of sugar per 8 ounce serving and is typically served in 20 or 24 ounce bottles. You don't have to do the exact math to realize that a drink like that is putting too much sugar into your system. That excess sugar slows your metabolism and the "sugar crash" saps your energy and will adversely affect your performance - typically as you near the end of the front nine and make the turn, or worse yet, on the last 3 or 4 holes when the match is on the line.

Think about it. How many times has that "personal best" score slipped away from you in the final few holes? How many presses have you lost because you "ran out of gas"? Drink water and take HyLytes during your next round of golf and FINISH as STRONG as your started..

A Final Checklist & Some Quick Tips

Begin hydrating the day before your round. On the course, keep fluid intake between 16 to 14 oz/hr. If you feel you need more fluid, keep in mind that you will require additional electrolytes.

Drink cold fluids as much as possible, as your body absorbs them more rapidly that warm fluids.

Urine color can indicate hydration level. Dark yellow urine means low hydration; pale to light yellow urine indicates adequate hydration. Do not confuse the bright yellow urine generated by vitamin B-2 (riboflavin) supplements for the dark yellow urine indicating overly concentrated urine and dehydration;

During your round, avoid simple sugars, as they require more fluid and electrolytes to digest. Also avoid carbonated drinks, as the gas inhibits absorption of fluids and calories.

If you drink alcohol while playing...Alcohol is a diuretic and will deplete your electrolytes and dehydrate you. So when you finish your last beer and switch to water, take a few electrolyte capsules with your water, you will re-hydrate faster and recover faster..

Post round electrolytes will facilitate re-hydration and recovery eliminating the need for a post round nap, therefore you will be able to spend more time with your family and your spouse will love you more and ultimately let you play more golf.
